President Obama has just announced that fundingfor the next "man to the moon" mission has been cancelleddue to budget constraints.Seems the President must have read "Deception Point" andembraced the ideas of the villian in the novel. i.e. that the space program is best handled by private enterprise. How ironic that it takes a real-life President torefute notions of good and evil as propounded by Dan Brown, and opt for political compromise. The read of DP is not as good as A&D or DVC.Brown is becoming too formulaic, e.g. repeating thelast episode of each novel whereby the hero/heroine getto consummate their physical attraction for one another after the whole ordeal is over.
But besides that, I enjoyed it, and I would recommend it to anyone who is bored, and has nothing better to do with his time (including read other, better, books) Because I still read it though, I would say that if you have OCD (as some teachers do, especially regarding towards assignments) (jk), you HAVE to read it because that's what OC people do. While the mood is very thrilling, and very fast paced, you won't get a heart attack. And the author, someone who wrote tons of other bestsellers, is a great author. This takes place totally in present time (because science fiction is cheesy, and history is boring), during an election year.
Sexton is stupid. It's a big novel. Coming to a conclusion, that's how life works. The capital turning point in the story is when Rachel Sexton discovers that the Meteorite is a fake, but unfortunately, a Delta Force is after them, trying to kill them because they don't want the information released, which it eventually will be. Obviously, this is as most crucial find for NASA as it can get, because of its financial drain on the US government, and likewise, the people (from taxes), and abundance of recent failures, it is on the verge of liquidation and the space agency being sent into the private sector. The story transports you to many adventurous places, from the white house, to glaciers in the North Pole to giant underwater tornadoes as stuff blows up around you. Above all, let's move on.
Coming to a conclusion, this is a novel. I would say that it is fairly long, while at a page count of 557, it is a fast read, because you will really, indulgently indulge in it and the pages will keep turning. Rachel is sad. Mostly, this novel totally has no pictures except for a cool photo of a glacier at the front cover because it's not a picture book. In general, this is a major message in Senator Sedgewick Sexton's campaign for presidency (that NASA is useless), who will depend on this message for his success.
Coming to a conclusion, that's all what you need to know about this book.Mostly, the main characters in this story are Rachel Sexton, and her father Senator Sedgewick Sexton, who is also having an affair with his personal assistant. Oh wait, never mind. It is good. Note: this is for a school assessment, so whatever I said below, weather makes no sense or not, it's only for me to get extra credit.Deception Point"Deception Point" is an amazing adventure thriller written by Dan Brown. In the process of further verifying the authenticity of the theory, they realize it is a really a fake, and Rachel sends the information to her father, who then threatens to go public with it, which will be a turning point in his campaign. Besides that, Rachel is almost about to die. Obviously, this is kind of suspenseful.
Coming to a conclusion, that's as intense as doing linear algebra in the middle of the night.Although I will not give away the explicit ending, I would say that it concludes with a "happily ever after" type of tone, implying that there would be no sequel, so I would say it was kind of meaningless. Obviously I'm not. Because it is published by "Simon & Schuster" in 2001, it is probably good. Coming to a conclusion, now I'm done. Above all, it isn't all that cheesy. Coming to a conclusion, that's what happened. In "Deception Point" Rachel Sexton is working for the current President Zachary Herney, (ironically, her father is his opponent) so she is sent to the Arctic to confirm the authentic accuracy of NASA's findings of a meteor, found in a glacier, that has supposed extraterrestrial fossils in it, while her father is running for president. Besides that, I think this is done.
Yes I am.
i am quickly becoming a fan of dan brown. although i did not fully understand why the 'villain' was who he was, it was an amazing read, as were the others.
Reading through this book once just won't do. Dan Brown has not only mastered this formula but he has taken it to a new and higher level. I am a huge Dan Brown Fan and of the five of his books that I've read including the latest: The Lost Symbol I have to say hands down this is the best of the five. There is a very simple formula in writing good fiction. Deception Point and Digital Fortress are the kinds of thrillers that I personally would like to see more of from Dan Brown. It gets better with each read. Drama is the necessary ingredient for any novel that grabs the reader's attention at the start and keeps the reader up all night downing cup after cup of coffee hoping to read just one or two more chapters before sleep overtakes you.
When the rogue special OPS team threw the professor and his sled dog team out of the helicopter, which grabbed me by the throat to the murders and near misses experienced by almost all of the major characters to the where the hell did that come from ending I was there for it all. It's the kind of scientific/political thriller that you read until your eyes burn, climb into bed resenting the hours of sleep required to recharge your mind and body so that you might pick up where you left off in the morning. This book has everything, characters, plot, excitement, and scientific hypotheticals. Brown's research is always impeccable and that gives his plot and sub-plots credibility. Character + Conflict = Drama. Three adventures of professor Langdon, although excellent reads all, are starting to get a little stale. And like another reviewer commented: I cannot understand why Hollywood hasn't made this into a blockbuster movie; it certainly has all of the necessary ingredients.Jim Gilliam, Author: Point Deception Point Deception
Deception Point is a must read for Dan Brown fans. This book is fast paced with good characters and interesting scenarios. This book didn't get the attention of Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons, but it was just as good. The movie potential is there and I hope Rachel Sexton gets brought back for another adventure in a second book. From the Arctic to the halls of Washington D.C., the book moves with an intensity which grabs you and keeps building. The start and finish are both satisfying.
